What We Believe

As heirs of the 16th Century Lutheran Reformation, we cherish the Christian faith as expressed in the apostles', Nicene and Athanasian creed, and the book of concord, a collection of Lutheran confessional statements based on the Holy scriptures.

The bible for us is the inspired word of God that records the saving acts God has taken to deliver us from sin, satan and death through the promised coming of a Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible is as Timothy expressed, "Useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

The means of grace God uses to create in us faith and a life of service are the holy scripture, the sacraments of holy baptism (our entrance into life with God and the church) and holy communion.

What we believe in simple statements:
  • that we have a loving God who created all things and humans to be eternal
  • that the Bible is God's word and the only absolute truth we can trust
  • that there is only one God; Triune - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • that all humans are condemned sinners and need a Savior
  • that Jesus, God's Son and true God, is the only Savior from sin for all
  • that the Holy Spirit gives us faith to believe in Jesus as our Savior
  • that the Holy Spirit leads us into a life of service in love for God and others
